take a hike

Chris and I decided to hike on Saturday while we were drinking our coffee on the couch wiping the sleep out of our eyes. It was sunny and chilly. When we got to the top of the mountain, it was so cold that we chowed down a power bar and guzzled down some water while covering one ear with my sleeve because they were freezing off. Chris told me to throw a hat in the day pack because I would definitely need it. I said "nah, I'll be fine". I got the big I told you so look when we got to the top.

Chris held the camera.

We went and had a nice hot lunch/supper after we got off the mountain, then went home with a movie to watch. It was a really great day.

Uh Oh

I think our boiler is messed up. A few days ago I called the oil people to take a look and they replaced the switch. It was fine for the past couple of days until this morning, same problem again. I called them back and they will send someone out some time today. This is a bit scary. Our boiler is very old.
This week has been incredibly slow in the shop. So with that and the possible boiler expense I am going to have a BUY 2 GET 1 FREE sale this weekend. I was going to wait awhile, but under the circumstances it may help.

I will be posting 4 new pairs of turquoise button studs (all one of a kind) today and also citrine studs for the November babies!

I should have told you

I am not going to blog quite as much as usual with Chris gone on business for the next few weeks. I have been incredibly busy with the kids/house/business/church that I have not had time to blog. Everything is going great. The kids, Chris , and I are all well and thriving. My workouts have been fantastic.

Melting Silver & Frost Heaves

I have been really busy, too busy. It's my fault mostly. I have been sleeping a bit later than I should and during the week I am up at 6am to get the boys off to school but I sneak back to bed when they leave for an hour or 2. I can't seem to be able to shake it. I need to really buckle down. I am backwards so that I am not falling asleep until 1am. This does not work well for my life. Anyway, I am sure to nip it in the bud (soon) ..... okay, now.

The weather here in NH has been really wonderful. The leaves will be peeking soon and the color is amazing. Yesterday and today have been 65 degrees, deepest blue sky, and a breeze. Story book weather, really.

I made a little plaid top last week and I am wearing it now. I love red plaid.

Showing off my lil bang braid. I am growing them out (again) so I am getting inventive!

This evening Chris and I are going out to eat at a friend's home and then a few couples are going to see a show at Peterborough Players called "Frost Heaves" http://www.frostheaves.com/ It will be wonderful.

This beauty started as a made to order bramble ring gone wrong. As I melted the middle of the bramble and said OH NO! I decided to keep melting around the setting and it came out beautiful! I set a gorgeous blue lace agate.

I will list it in the shop at some point (size 8.5). I need to get back to work now.
EDIT ~ this ring sold before I could list it in the shop :)

Another busy day and night tonight. I don't think I have mentioned that I am attending a 13 week course called "The Truth Project" http://www.thetruthproject.org/ on Tuesday nights 6:30 - 8:30 (it is perfect because Danny and Daryl go to teen bible study at the same time). Tonight is the 3rd night of the course and I have to tell you it is mind blowing. It is really intense and the folks in the group are absolutely brilliant. I was a bit self conscious about expressing my thoughts for fear of sounding less intelligent, but I quenched that pretty quickly with a good dose of "who cares, I am me". People seemed receptive to my thought and views on the talk that was given in the beginning of our time together. Anyway, it's a great opportunity to learn more and grow in the Lord. Whoever thinks being a Christian is boring and "goody goody" is so incredibly mistaken. It is hard, first of all. But so exciting and inspiring and challenging.... I could go on and on but I won't because I really need to get going.
have a great evening!

wearin' ma new top

I am trying to cut down on washing my hair, shampoo can actually be your hair's biggest enemy with damage/color fade. So, I am wearing pig tails frequently on the days I don't wash. Normally the day after I wash my hair still looks good, but 2 days??? I thought it would be nasty to go 2 days without a wash, but an incredible hair stylist in NYC swears by infrequent washes and the use of dry shampoo. Dry shampoo helps, but it is not nearly the same as squeaky clean hair.
I have Apha tonight! I am also on my way out the door to do the grocery shopping/Walmart/petcosmart yadda yadda.
I reckon I better get to it!
XOXO

Domesticity plus

At about 4:30pm this afternoon I looked around my kitchen and realized I was really quite comfortable doing many things at the same time. SO much so that I was not even aware of it until I stopped and looked around.

Supper simmering in the crock pot and rice cooking on the stove to be added 30 minutes before eating
*Sweet and sour turkey meatballs with pineapple, green peppers and brown rice*

cookies being made (double batch) half for church and half for home

and while each batch was in the oven I cut out fabric, cuz I make clothes and stuff

and ya know what? I am happy as a clam doing it all. Who is this woman I have turned into???? I don't know but I really like her :)
