Memorial Day Weekend Sale!

BUY 2 GET 1 FREE

Thursday ~ Monday

Night skating anyone?

It has been VERY warm here in New Hampshire...... middle of August warm. Chris set up some of his floodlights that he uses for work and he and Will did a little night skating on the half pipe. It was very cool and they had a lot of fun.

*Notice Chris is padded to the hilt and my little monkey is not. It's just what you must do if you are a really big guy pushing 40 that insists on trying to keeping up with his 13 year olds board skills, bless his heart.

That's my boy

My sweet hearted Danny (age 16.5) is really testing his dear old Ma this weekend. Friday afternoon, Chris discovered Dan's skateboard (very expensive, paid for by us) was missing from the garage. Chris looked around and could not find it. We went into town to go to the store (or something like that) and did our usual "drive by" detour past the skate park. Danny was with a group of "ladies and gentleman" and we called him over to ask about the board and he said he did not know where it was and that he did not mention it to us because he thought we would get mad at him for loosing it. I said "yeah... yeah.... yeah...." and then looked back at the "ladies and gentleman" behind Danny and I said, "You WILL NOT get in that car, okay honey?" and he said "yeah.... yeah..... yeah....." Chris and I drive home and then Chris has an epiphany about where the skate board may be so we go back into town to talk to Dan. He is gone. The car is gone. The "ladies and gentleman" are gone. Yes folks..... He got in that car. We saw a stray "gentleman" and asked him where Dan went and he told us, then asked us not to tell him that he told. I said "yeah.... yeah..... yeah...." We found Dan and grounded his butt for a week for the proverbial slap in the face. Okay, not really blog post worthy, I know..... be patient.
One thing you need to understand is that when you ground my son, you better be ready for a nasty fight, and that is what we enjoyed Friday afternoon. It was bad. I will not get into the details but we needed a third party to mediate and then Dan went to my mother's house for the night to cool down.

The next day (Saturday morning) Chris goes to Amherst to pick up Danny. They arrive home and Chris walks into my studio and says, "come here Lisa". I went into the living room to see my gorgeous son sitting there with a barbell through his eyebrow. My dear brother (age 28) pierced my sons eyebrow while he was at my parents house the night before. My parents had no knowledge of this. I did not know who I wanted to kill more. Dan knows we would not have approved. He has asked about piercings before and we have always said, "your body is yours when you are 18" and that is it! Now, I am no prude when it comes to body piercing. I have had my lip, tongue, and currently my nose pierced. I have 2 tattoos. But this again was blatant disobedience. Chris and I discussed it and I told Dan that he must take the piercing out. Dan said "no" so I told him that he must stay in his room until HE decides to remove it.
He took this picture to send to his girlfriend......

He actually stayed in his room all Saturday and Sunday morning. He called us as we were on our way home from church and asked if Hillary could stay for just a bit because she was stopping by to pick up some earrings I had made for her and I said "If you take that thing out of your face, she can stay for a bit" (remember, he is grounded for a week for the car thing)

I came home to my handsome Danny. Thank goodness!!!!

So, Hillary is over visiting, and Chris and Will decide they want to go to the big skate park in Hopkington. They invite Tucker and leave. I get a call about 20 minutes later. Chris says "Will said we should check Danny's back". I said "hold on". I marched into the living room and asked if I could see Danny's back. There is a very badly done freehand tattoo on his back shoulder. A friend of his did this with a needle and India ink on the previous Thursday. Ya know, the whole time going through the piercing thing, I kept saying, "at least it's not a tattoo". So now Dan belongs to that ever growing club of people who have bad childhood tattoos that they will end up getting burned off when they are adults. Funny thing is usually these "bad hand done tattoos" are performed while the recipient is loaded. Danny was stone cold sober.

That's my boy.

Being friends

I have been thinking quite a bit lately about friends. Ya know what? I really don't have any. I have tons of acquaintances, but no one I feel really close. I never learned how to make honest friendships when I was a child - teen - young adult. I am content without having close friends, maybe because it is really all I know. Women try to get close to me, but it is usually one sided. They will call - email - etc. and I reply, but I almost never initiate..... ever. It has nothing to do with them, it's me. I just don't seem to want to invest time and energy into creating friendships. I say that, but when I see - hear - read about people with wonderfully close loving friendships, I wish I had the same.

I will say I know I am not interested in creating close relationships with people that I know exclusively online. I just don't trust. The Internet is too big and mysterious and our culture/society fallen. I think this is very wise...... probably an unpopular view in these times, but since when do I care about that?

I think it will happen someday. My mom and dad are like this as well. We are very comfortable with family and do like people, but at an arms length. I pray that God helps me with this because I have a feeling I am really missing out on something wonderful. I want a best buddy.

Lisa's Lovlies ....

....... is having a sale! Big surprise, right?!?! I do love weekend sales. I look for them when I shop, so I know folks appreciate saving a few dollars.

I am woking in the studio for the rest of the day.

I really have nothing to say.

I keep typing, then erasing what I type.

I think I am just typing because I think I should.

Well, screw it.

This is not going to be an interesting post.

Sorry.

I'm not one to talk when there is nothing to say.

But isn't it wonderful that there is nothing to complain about??

See you all soon

xoxo

Oh, this is what I listen to everyday while I work in the studio......

Look at my new.....

television shelf! It is finished and in the living room. I am so happy with it. Chris did a wonderful job. I think I drive him crazy with my simplicity. He wanted to make it a little fancy here and there and I wanted squared edges and simple lines. He will be building a matching coffee table next!

BEFORE

AFTER

Notice the "H" pillow on the little chair. Will made that for me for Mother's Day :)

I will have 3 necklaces, 2 rings, and 2 pairs of earrings to list in the shop tomorrow using new stones. It feels like it has been forever since I had a proper shop update.

I am back to my "Insanity" workout http://www.beachbody.com/Insanity. I had to take an entire 2 weeks off when I was sick, so instead of picking up where I left off (week 3) I decided to start over again. I think that is the right thing to do. Chris is actually working out this second right behind me. He did not get sick, so he is on week 4 and looking very fit :)

We began "family therapy" last week, the therapist comes to the house Wednesdays at 6PM (tonight). It is meant to help Chris and I get on the same page with parenting/discipline and to just help our family get healthier overall. We have some issues to work through. I am hopeful, but not optimistic. Your prayers would be much appreciated.

See you tomorrow with a shop update!!!

xoxo

Very Exciting Indeed!

I just finished packing up my orders....

And I worked an extra long day yesterday so that I would have EVERYTHING on my list completed so that I could begin creating with new stones Chris and I purchased on Saturday. We went to see my "rock guy". I have not been on a trip to see him since September! After I finish writing this and fuel up with a bit of lunch, I will fire up the torch.

Here are just a couple of the new stones.....

I'm gonna start with this one.......

The lighting outside is weird. These should be gorgeously detailed pictures, but the camera did not capture the stones. Oh, well ..... when they are made into jewelry, the pictures will be much better.

I purchased two Mexican Fire Opals (one is in the picture). They are really different. And really expensive. So they are small. I can do small. I think.

I need to scram.

More posts about what is going on with me and family life soon to come. I have not gotten "deep" in awhile.

Mother's Day

We thank you for the love of the mothers you have given us,
whose love is so precious that it can never be measured,
whose patience seems to have no end. Bless these amazing women,
that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers.
Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. When they are down, give them comfort;
when they are discouraged, give them hope;
and when they are tired, give them strength.
May they feel Your love in their hearts,
Your peace in their minds,
and Your joy in their spirits. Please bless our Mothers with the gift of Your love this Mother's Day.
May we honor them in word and deed,
and teach our children to do the same. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

* Please pray for the Warren family. The wife and mother lost her husband 12 days ago and Saturday morning, her daughter, a freshman in high school was killed in a car accident.

2 steppin'

There is a saying in AA called "2 stepping". I feel like I am 2 stepping with my blog posts. One meager post on Monday and now one on Friday. Oh, well..... I've been sick. I did go to the doctors and do have a sinus infection requiring antibiotics to clear up. I am not better yet, but hopefully getting there. My cough is really gross. Anyway, in case you forgot what I look like ...... (I know you didn't because I post so many pics of myself, it's almost a concern)

web cam 2 minutes ago...

*LuLu's new sun dress

She is the cutest animal on this earth (in my opinion), although Jamie's little dog Tucker has to be the most handsome dog I've seen. LuLu thinks so too.

I have been running around with Chris most of the day, I took the day off since my silver order did not arrive. We went to the dump, to the job site to pick up ladders, the hardware store, and out to lunch. I did a little raking in the front yard and Chris is working on the entertainment center. It will be finished today or tomorrow!

I gotta go mow the lawn now. Danny just called, he was going to come home from school to do extra chores to make a bit of money, but he took the bus over to a friends house instead. Nice.
